Instructions

Note 1: Start your time as you leave the edge of the parking lot.

Note 2: Think of the parking lot as a transition area, keep the time running and transition swiftly.

Stage 1: (Yellow Line)Biking Sope Creek/Columns Dr.
The YELLOW line is tough to see on the map unless you zoom in some.
Head down columns drive and turn around just before the concrete median starts at the Johnson Ferry Rd Stop Light, and head back to the parking lot.
Head down the gravel path that heads off to the right. Mind the 10mph speed limit, rangers will give you a ticket just think of it as a slight break which everyone will observe.
Make a RIGHT when the bike trail heads up into the woods. Follow the main path to Sibley Pond.

Question 1. Stand on the middle part of the Wooden deck at Sibley Pond. Using your compass determine, in degrees, the direction the deck planks point out into the water.

Head back to the parking lot along the same trail.
Ride the columns drive road segment once more out and back Try to pass someone this time!

Stage 2: (Red Line)Run to the Mill
Transition to the run. Once again head down the gravel path to the right, pass the bike trail that goes into the woods, and make a RIGHT on the trail just before you get to the foot bridge. This trail follows the stream that the bridge crosses.

Hang a RIGHT onto the steep rocky trail that comes down from the hill. The trail comes in at a sharp angle so you turn more than a 90 degree turn to the RIGHT. Just make sure you are going up hill. At the top of the hill the trail merges with the bike trail you were on earlier.

Take this trail to Sibley Pond again. Go a little past the pond and turn RIGHT on the intersecting trail. Along this trail there are a lot of little intersecting trails. The trails you want are more to the LEFT (use your map and common sense), they eventually lead to a small pull off near the mill ruins on Paper Mill Rd. At this pull off answer the next question.

Question 2. There is a sign marking the former city limits of Chattahoochee Plantation. What is the range of years that this was the city limits?

Go to the opposite end of the pull-off and find the mill ruins beside the Creek. Go to the side facing the Creek.

Question 3. There are several windows along this side. What are the supports made of that run across the top of these windows?

Stage 3: (Green Line)The Mill back to the Finish
Follow the trails that follow the creek. There are a lot of ugly trails made by trail blazing so it may be a little confusing as to which trails to take. Your decision. Stay on trails that keep the creek in sight and you will be fine. On the borders of the park you will run into a man made object that you would have to cross if you were going to continue.

Question 4. What is the man made object that you see, but you DO NOT cross?

AGAIN DO NOT CROSS this! ! ! It doesn’t go anywhere fun.
TURN AROUND and head back the way you came until you come to the first park trail that heads to the left and up a hill. Take this trail, while going up the hill there will be houses on your left and you will know you are on the edge of the park boundary.

At the top of the hill there will be a trail map and trail intersection. Take the LEFT trail, it will run along the back of some houses looking as if it just goes to the houses, but does tuck back into the woods then continues to the right.
At the next trail intersection and map, turn around. You will see the trail you just came down and another to the right. Take this trail, it will bring you back to the main bike trail. Hang a left and head back to the parking lot. Utilize your map.

Stop your time as you enter the parking lot.
