Adventure Racers Make Donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters
TrailBlazers Adventure Racing Club raffles off bike donated by River City Bicycles and raises $600 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TN October 23, 2003 – The TrailBlazers Adventure Racing Club completed their raffle of a 2002 LeMond Alpe D’Huez road bike, donated by River City Bicycles, at the 24 Hours of Adrenaline mountain biking race in Conyers, Georgia on October 19th. The lucky winner of the bike, which retailed for $1,400, was Ricky Allen of Copper Basin, Tennessee. “My brother bought me the ticket at the Sequatchie Valley Century Ride and I had forgotten all about it until Jim (Farmer) called me to tell me that I won,” said Mr. Allen after receiving his new bike.

$600, over half of the donations received for the raffle, was given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga. According to Jim Farmer, director of the Chattanooga Chapter of the TrailBlazers, “This donation is part of the TrailBlazers commitment to charitable giving and community involvement, whether it’s through donations such as this raffle or our trail building and clean-up efforts as part of ARFE (Adventure Racers for the Environment).” The TrailBlazers Adventure Racing Club is an organization dedicated to advancing the sport of adventure racing. With chapters in Atlanta and Chattanooga and well over one hundred club members, TrailBlazers is the largest adventure racing club in the Southeast.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a national organization dedicated to empowering youth through mentoring. Judy Eiselstein, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga, was excited to receive the donation that will be placed into the Activities Fund at the agency. “The Big Brothers Big Sisters Activities Fund is used to put together a variety of fun and enriching activities year round,” she stated. “Organized outings, like our very popular Spring Fling and Halloween and Christmas parties, give both Bigs and Littles an opportunity to meet others involved in the program and have a lot of fun in the process. We’re very happy to have the TrailBlazers helping us make these events possible.”

River City Bicycles, one of the main sponsors of the TrailBlazers Adventure Racing Club, is the Southeast’s leading bike shop and has two locations in Chattanooga. “We’re proud to be involved with the TrailBlazers and happy to see their commitment to both the adventure racing community and the community as a whole,” said Bill Dominici, owner of River City Bicycles.
